I Made Buttermilk

Yesterday I was speaking with a good friend of mine and told her how excited I was to make buttermilk when I came up short while baking a couple of cakes.

Basically it's just a cup of milk (8 ozs.), I used whole milk (I normally do when I bake), and 1 tablespoon of vinegar or lemon juice (I used Real Lemon, lemon juice). Let it stand for approx. 10 minutes, and then another 10 minutes at room temperature.

After 20 minutes everything about the mixture said buttermilk, and yes, it even had curdled pieces! That was sooooo awesome! I know, I'm such a baking geek :-)
